FOLLY !
This choreographic and musical performance for five dancers, a barytone and two instrumentists, mixes the airs de cour composed by Guédron, Bataille, Boesset and Lambert to the Folies d’Espagne of Marin Marais.
The brief form specific to the air de cour, as well as the very concised writing of the Folies d’Espagne’s numerous variations, let us play with a mounting based on very different atmospheres. Folies d’Espagne’s austerity is combined with airs for drinks, as well as with vivid dances and tender songs. The choreography and the set highlight the very deep relation between baroque music and dance.
Intentions de la chorégraphe
Air de Folies is a menu composed with all the art of experts. Air de cour and Folies d'Espagne are flavours that are rarely mixed together. Howether, how exciting to succeed in that improbable union ! The mixture has to both develop and balance the two ingredients. The specific flavour of the Folies d'Espagne is strong. It responds to the most demanding tastes of the Sun King court. Closed to strong spices, the Folies d'Espagne give to your meal the panache of the finest meals. As for the air de cour, it reveals perfums composed with various oils – sweetness, freshness and delicacy – which are combined with a touch of biterness. You will soon find always renewed sensations from the air de cour. It could surprisingly lead you into rough tints with wooded colours. To be tasted without moderation… |
